All tours include:
• Two Master Naturalist guides, who delight in sharing the wonders, sights, smells and tastes of nature with guests and are licensed to lead tours in the national park.
• Trail narratives that tell the natural and human history of the New River Gorge.
• Unique Appalachian cultural trail snacks.
• Perfect driving directions to the rendezvous point at the selected trailhead.
• Prices listed are for a private tour for two people. Add $20 for each additional guest. (10 max.)

No children under 12. Dogs are not permitted.

Old Growth Forest Loop $199

1.5 miles, 2.5 hours, Easy terrain.
The route leads through many different types of forest communities and is a great way to learn about the flora of central Appalachia and the New River Gorge. You will see dozens of different species of plants, trees and fungi.

Rhododendrons & Magnolias $199

2 miles, 3 hours. Mostly easy terrain with moderate sections.
This tour uses parts of three trails to showcase the botanical diversity of the New River Gorge. Beginning on top of the plateau, the trail descends slightly into a cove forest, then leads through mixed hardwoods along a ridgetop before returning through rhododendron thickets. The terrain is mostly gentle but there are short sections that are steep.

Streams, Vistas & Coal Mine History $249

4 miles (2 miles out and back) 3.5 - 4 hours Easy terrain.
This tour begins with a footbridge over a rushing stream, passes a hillside waterfall, has a stunning view of the New River Gorge Bridge and leads to an abandoned coal mine. Slightly uphill in the first quarter-mile, but most level after that. The distance of this tour requires a slightly faster pace, but we still take lots of time to examine the trees, plants and fungi along the way.

Rails, Rock and Ghost Town Views $199

3.5 Miles, 3 hours. Easy terrain with an optional moderate short side trip.
An out and back walk along an abandoned rail line. See rushing streams, walk over historic trestles and navigate around a house-size boulder that crashed from the cliffs above to cover the railroad tracks. A river view and a glimpse of an abandoned railroad town awaits at the turnaround. An optional side trip to an historic church is slightly steep terrain, but otherwise this is an easy trail to walk.

Riverside History and Nature $199

2.5 miles, 3 hours. Easy terrain.
Journey the same path that the first pioneers traveled through the New River Gorge. This trail runs alongside the New River – considered by some to be the oldest river in North America and features fascinating flora that lives in the lower elevations og the Gorge. Learn about the history of Mary Draper Ingles – who walked this very trail on her amazing escape from captivity in 1755.

Cliff Top Scramble $249

3.5 miles, 4 hours. Challenging terrain.
This tour includes all the Old Growth Forest Loop and extends the adventure with a side trip down into the Gorge, through rhododendron thickets and past towering rock formations. A rope-assisted scramble takes you to the top of a cliff with one of the most magnificent vistas in the National Park. The terrain is challenging but the view is worth the effort!
